Electoral Roll Appeal in West Bengal: Order, Record and Grounds
An electoral-roll appeal should begin with the signed decision and the stage at which it was made. A fresh application, objection hearing and statutory appeal are different procedures. The appeal must identify the order challenged, the record considered and the specific error said to affect the result.

Identify the decision-maker, stage and time limit
Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and Rules 23 and 27 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 provide stage-specific appeal routes. Determine whether the challenged order is of the Electoral Registration Officer or an appellate authority, obtain the signed order and confirm the competent forum. Limitation and any required presentation steps should be calculated from the actual record.

Keep the signed order, date, communication proof and reasons relied on.
Application record
Collect the form, acknowledgement, uploaded documents and field-verification material.
Hearing record
Preserve notice, attendance, written submission, document index and authority responses.
Relief
State the precise enrolment, deletion, correction or remand result requested.
Grounds drafting
Connect each alleged error to the record
A ground may concern misreading of evidence, failure to consider a material document, reliance on an unsupported fact, denial of a fair opportunity, incorrect statutory test or inadequate reasons. Avoid turning the appeal into a general political statement. Attach the document that supports each factual assertion.
- Quote the finding being challenged accurately.
- Cite the page supporting each correction.
- Explain any new material and why it was unavailable earlier.
- Keep proof of filing and service.

Do not substitute another form for an appeal analysis

File review
Bring the signed order and complete lower-stage record
Share the signed order, proof of communication, form and acknowledgement, supporting documents, field report if available, hearing notice and submission, attendance proof, current roll extract and the dates required for limitation review.
